Obligatory Sports Babe
This morning we'll go with Adriana Lima, aka Mrs. Marko Jaric, who spent Monday modelling bikinis on St. Barts, according to WWTDD.
QOTD
"I will soon be joining Liverpool Fc . Hope i will have a good season there :)" - Former (?) Real Madrid reserve Royston Drenthe, apparently breaking the news of his move to Liverpool on Facebook, via Who Ate All the Pies.
Did Matt Garza Overshadow Joe Mauer?
"Garza’s performance was the fifth no-hitter of the 2010 season -- sixth if you count Armando Galarraga’s should-have-been perfect game -- and the 177th in the history of Major League Baseball. A great performance, to be sure ... but the folks on ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike In the Morning brought up an interesting point," explains SB Nation. "In last night’s 19-1 rout of Kansas City, Twins’ catcher Joe Mauer went 5-for-5 with seven runs batted in. And while there have been 177 no-hitters in Major League Baseball history, Mauer’s performance last night marks only the 44th time a player has had at least five hits and seven RBI in the same game."
Accepting Randomness
"Most of the conversations about the Dan Haren trade boil down to how a person feels about pitcher evaluation. There are clearly still a lot of people that simply believe that whatever happens is the pitcher’s responsibility, so if he gives up a bunch of hits and some home runs, he’s doing something wrong and that should be held against him," writes Dave Cameron in a thought-provoking piece from Fangraphs. "These opinions are generally held because of the outright refusal to accept randomness. The idea that something could happen repeatedly, without cause, is very hard to for a lot of people to swallow. But it’s true, and it’s a very important concept to buy into when trying to project the future performance of baseball players. Random happens."
NFL Acknowledging Reality?
"The NFL will distribute a new poster to teams that warns of the dangers from concussions in much harsher language than the league had previously used," explains an AP report via ESPN. "Traumatic brain injury 'may lead to problems with memory and communication, personality changes, as well as depression and the early onset of dementia,' the document reads. 'Concussions and conditions resulting from repeated brain injury can change your life and your family's life forever.' The acknowledgment of such risks is a significant change from a pamphlet previously distributed to players, starting in 2007."
Quote of the Day, II
"If you ever get injured, you want to do it while you're out there competing, not when you're celebrating. Emotions get the best of you, you're excited. There's nothing wrong with that but be a little smarter when you're celebrating a win." - Marlins outfielder, and reigning NL Rookie of the Year, Chris Coughlan, after ending up on the DL with a torn meniscus in his left knee, that may require surgery, which he injured while delivering a pie in the face to teammate Wes Helms following the pinch hitter's bases-loaded single in the 11th inning of a 5-4 win over Atlanta on Sunday, according to ESPN.

Fake Mikhail Prokorov for the Win
From You Been Blinded, here's a new DirecTV commercial that, while maybe not necessarily spoofing new New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokorov, it's close-- and awesome-- enough that we should probably just watch it anyway.
