Talbot Calls Ovie A Bad Word

It's not the worst moniker Max Talbot could have bestowed upon Alex Ovechkin, but anytime a fourth liner refers to a superstar as a "douche"... people are going to pay attention.  Talbot, taking a page out of Adam Burish's book, took the opportunity to express his true feelings on Ovechkin while speaking with 105.9 The X on Tuesday as he was promoting next season's Winter Classic at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

Ovechkin was not scheduled to appear at the press conference as he had commitments in Russia.  When asked about Ovechkin's absence, the Pittsburgh Penguins' forward didn't hold back:

I'm kinda happy [Ovechkin's] not there. I really didn't wanna see him...  I just hate him...  I was actually at the NHL awards. Last summer with Malkin. We brought the Stanley Cup over there after the season and everything. Malkin knew Ovechkin and introduced me to him. The first impression wasn't great. I'm not really gonna say what happened, but uh, it wasn't... I was like, "okay, this guy is a real douche."

Seeing as Adam Burish was not subject to punishment (that I know of, maybe he was, who cares?) for his comments about the Flyers' Chris Pronger following the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup, it would be surprising to see Talbot reprimanded for his remarks.  Although, Burish was taking aim at a much less popular player.  Regardless, I don't really see the point in Talbot making disparaging remarks (even if it is funny, or possibly true) about another player, especially one of Ovechkin's stature - unless of course it's just Talbot looking for attention.  Oh the pains of being a fringe player in the NHL.

Here's a link to audio of the interview.  (Hat-tip SBNation for their handy transcription of the bit)
