20 Years Ago: Tyson-Douglas

I’m not going to act like some cranky old person and suggest that it’s seems crazy that twenty years ago today Buster Douglas shocked the world by beating Mike Tyson in Tokyo, because frankly, that actually seems about right.
And that’s, of course, because it is right. On February 10th, 1990, James “Buster” Douglas defeated Tyson to become boxing’s heavyweight champ. And today, Jeremy Schaap of ESPN takes a detailed look back at, and dispels some of, the many myths about that bout that still endure. Myths like the notion that Douglas just got lucky, that he was a “no-talent bum,” and that Tyson was out of shape.
Here we see how I’d like to believe the fight went in Tyson’s mind.
And here some hero has posted the entire tenth round of the fight with the real commentary.
