Bad Cards is Back!
Until now, that is.
There are a lot of bad sports cards out there, and more are being produced every day. As diligent as he was, Slew Dog was barely able to scratch the surface of what's out there. I've decided to pick up where he left off. To celebrate the return of Bad Cards, which will now be on Mondays instead of Wednesdays, I'm going to go all out with a tribute to some of the nerdiest-looking baseball players of the 1980s and early '90s.
Baseball has always been a sport for nerds — there's no other game on Earth that could have invented something as hopelessly geeked out as Sabermetrics — but for some reason, there was a period where the sport was practically overrun by guys in gigantic eyeglasses who looked oddly like member's of your high school's AV club or IT guys circa Windows 3.0.
Here are few highlights from that period, mostly from the now-defunct Nerd Baseball.
