Gigi Becali, owner of Romanian soccer team Steaua Bucharest, says that he will field an all-Romanian team next season. While this may sound crazy in the age of global football, Becali reminds people that back in 1986, when Steaua became the only Romanian team to win the European Cup, they did it without a single foreigner on the pitch.
"I want to see a team built entirely of Romanians. That's my intention... There were only Romanians in the team in 1986, and they won the European Cup, so why we should pay high salaries to foreign players and not win anything?"
