I Believe in Eli

In the last two or three years, Super Bowl season has also become the season for terrible, terrible sports-themed parodies of pop songs. Thankfully for YouTuber Kenny Scharlatt, his tribute to Eli Manning "I Believe in Eli" — set to the tune of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" — isn't that bad.

It's not that good, either, but it doesn't make me want to punch anything, and it's better than the 4,000 variants of "Black and Yellow" that came out in 2011. It does sound less like R. Kelly and more like some generic new country baladeer, but these things happen.I do disagree with his assertion that "New York fans deserve it." In fact, after a Super Bowl win in 2008 and two decades of Yankees hegemony, I would argue that it's time for someone else to win some things, but that's just me.

(Update: It turns out Kenny Scharlatt actually is a new country baladeer, so that makes a fair bit of sense.)
