Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Sanders Comming was arrested on domestic violence charges last weekend. Police in Athens, GA, say Commings struck his girlfriend in the head when the two were arguing on the street in downtown Athens Friday night. (Independent Mail)
I have to say, I'm kind of impressed that it took until the end of January for us to log our first Georgia Bulldog arrest of 2012. They must be cracking down.
Syracuse Orange quarterback Terrel Hunt was arrested after he was caught shoplifting a bottle of cologne from a Hollister. (YNN.com)
That's right, he was busted shoplifting from a Hollister. He's basically a 13 year-old girl right now.
New Mexico Lobos quarterback Ryan Trujillo was arrested for pepper spraying his girlfriend in a restaurant parking lot. (The Republic)

The Other Football
Swiss authorities arrested Bulat Chagaev — the Chechen owner of bankrupt football club Neuchatel Xamax — on mismanagement-related charges on Thursday. Chagaev bought the club back in May, paying around 1.2 million Swiss francs for it. Since then, he's been accused of not paying players and dodging payroll taxes. It's also alleged that his legal team submitted a fradulent bank letter to the league, showing that the team had $35 million US in an account in New York. The team was then kicked out of the Swiss Super League earlier this month, and all players were granted releases from their contracts. (AFP)
This is the first owner we've had in Criminal Minded since we launched it back in the fall, and I could not be happier. I was getting kind of sick of writing about NCAA basketball players getting popped for weed and underage drinking. This is much, much more satisfying.
