Jock Music: Bass Part III

Jock Music is a weekly look at the places where music and sports intersect.

Is it weird that I'm starting to feel personally invested in the musical development of Celtics forward Brandon Bass?

When I first heard Bass' music back in August, I ripped it apart. I was thoroughly unimpressed by his single "Billion Dollar Dream," and I stand by my criticisms of that song. The next two at some point in the fall, Bass made a quantum leap forward as an MC, as his next two tracks, "Rather Be Wit U" and "Rythym of My Life," were way, way better.

His latest musical outing, "People Wit Me," actually verges on being good. It's not quite there, and rap nerds will still hate it, but if you're the sort of person who really like old Three 6 Mafia, considered getting a Crime Mob tattoo and thinks "Nextel Chirp" is a classic, you'll probably really dig it.
