Bachmann is Tebow?

According to this new television spot, Michele Bachmann is the Tim Tebow of politics.

Like Tebow, she's been mocked by the establishment. Like Tebow, she keeps winning in spite of seemingly insurmoutable odds, and like Tebow, she's a proud born again Christian.

There are two major problems with this comparison:

1) Tebow has lost his last three games, so that "just keeps winning" assertion isn't really accurate anymore.

2) The mainstream sports guys don't "love to hate" Tim Tebow. In fact, they turned him into a super hero. At most, you could say that the mainstream sports guys are divided on Tebow, but that doesn't really play into Bachmann's narrative about being held down by the mainstream media.

The mainstream news media does have a tendency to beat up on Michele Bachmann, but then, when she keeps handing them giant metaphorical sticks with which to club her, I'm not sure what else they're supposed to do. She accused the President of harbouring strong anti-American sentiments, said that school children are being encouraged to experiment with gay sex, and has pushed the "death panel" myth with regards to health care. You can't expect news outlets to leave that alone.
