Gabbert's Rain "Hail Mary"
Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert got his first NFL start today for the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Carolina Panthers, and in conditions that would've left it quite a memorable game even if it weren't his debut.
For much of the first half, you couldn't even tell on television where the football was because of the rain. It looked like a hurricane.
Well, in the final seconds of the first half, the Jaguars had the ball at the 36-yard line, with time for one last play. Gabbert hit wide receiver Mike Thomas with a pass inside of the 10-yard line, and somehow the Panthers allowed him to score:
Not your traditional "Hail Mary", but it worked, thanks to terrible defense by the Panthers.
Unfortunately for Gabbert and the Jaguars, the Panthers would comeback and win the game 16-10.
