AWKWARD Boxing Ref Interview
Reporter Jim Gray is known for conducting highly awkward interviews with people in the sports world. A perfect example of this would be his interview with Pete Rose at game two of the 1999 World Series, after Rose had just been introduced as a member of the MLB All-Century Team:
Well last night, Gray was back with more interview awkwardness. It occurred after a boxing match between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko. Mares won the fight, but he got away with some below-the-belt hits on Agbeko. Had referee Russell Mora ruled these punches illegal, Agbeko would've likely won the fight.
And Gray let Mora know how terrible he thought these non-calls were:
Easily one of the most uncomfortable interviews I've ever seen. You know deep down Mora was thinking, "Hey Jim, I'll show YOU what a below-the-belt hit looks like!"
