Limbless First Pitch
Japanese sportswriter, bestselling author and former elementary school teacher Hirotada Ototake is kind of an inspiration to us all. Despite being born with the ultra-rare tetra-amelia syndrome, which means he has no arms or legs, Ototake has already done more with his life than most of us will ever do with ours.
To celebrate Ototake's general awesomeness, he was invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before a recent Japanese Pacific League game between the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles and the Saitama Seibu Lions. he dedicated the pitch to the victims of Japan's recent earthquake. Let's see how it went.
You know what? Forget "good for a man with no limbs," by the relatively low standards of ceremonial first pitches, that was a pretty decent throw. Think I'm just being generous? Compare it to these crimes-against-baseball.
Hirotada Ototake is cooler than you. That's all there is to it.
