Ciro Immobile is ready to restart his career with the club that launched it.

The 25-year-old striker rejoined Torino on loan from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, ending his previous spell at Sevilla in a bid to get back among the goals and possibly on the Italy squad for Euro 2016. The Serie A club has an option to buy Immobile on a permanent basis in the summer.

"Immobile is a player who has given a lot to Torino, just as Torino has given a lot to Immobile. Between us, there has always been a great relationship," said president Urbano Cairo.

All three clubs reportedly reached an agreement on Tuesday. Torino will pay a €850,000 fee for the loan, and has a buy-out clause set at a further €11 million, according to Sky Sport's Gianluca Di Marzio.

Around 200 Torino supporters greeted Immobile at Caselle airport late in the evening, with the Italian telling local media that he is happy to be back at a place where he is loved.

"I am very happy, I cannot wait to put myself at the disposal of the coach and my teammates," Immobile said. "I thank the club for the trust it has put in me again, and I want to thank the fans for the reception at the airport. I didn't expect it."

Immobile reached stardom with Torino during the 2013-14 Serie A season as he became the league's top scorer with 22 goals. He initially resisted a move to a bigger club, and was hesitant to learn the German language.

The Bundesliga club was searching for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left as a free agent to sign with rival Bayern Munich later that summer. Immobile was thought to be that man, and Dortmund paid €18 million for his services.

However, playing time was sparse. Although he started most Champions League games during the 2014-15 campaign, Immobile lost the starter's role to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who had been signed by Dortmund a year earlier.

Unable to make a breakthrough, Immobile moved on loan to Sevilla during the last summer transfer window in search of more opportunity. But he only amassed four starts in La Liga this season.
