Augsburg 'keeper Hitz gets landscaping bill after scuffing penalty spot

Augsburg's Marwin Hitz may want to rule out landscaping as a second career after the twice-capped Swiss international received a €122.92 bill for his penalty spot-defacing efforts on the weekend against Cologne.

Cologne's stadium manager Hans Rutten sent Hitz an itemised bill to cover the cost of turf replacement at RheinEnergieStadion, two hours of labour repairing the 'keeper's damage to the spot, and included sales tax, reports The Guardian.

Anthony Modeste missed the subsequent penalty after slipping on Hitz's crude attempt at thwarting Cologne's efforts, which proved to be the difference in a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

"What Marwin Hitz did had little to do with fair play. It's not about the money," Rutten said. "But a bit of punishment does no harm. If Marwin Hitz pays, then we will donate the amount to the children's hospital in Cologne."

"That wasn't the most fair thing to do," Hitz admitted after the game to the Guardian's Marcus Christenson. "When I see that, that's not me. It won't happen again."
