Stuttgart striker Daniel Ginczek out for remainder of 2015 with slipped disc
German outfit VfB Stuttgart will be without Daniel Ginczek for the remainder of 2015 after the striker suffered a slipped disc in his cervical vertebrae region that will require surgery.
Ginczek picked up the injury during Stuttgart's game against Hoffenheim on Oct. 3.
"A decision has now been made that the VfB striker will undergo surgery on the injury," the club announced on its website. "Daniel Ginczek will have an operation in Munich on Friday and will thus miss out on the remainder of the first half of the season.
"VfB wish their front man all the very best for successful surgery and a speedy recovery!"
Ginczek has scored three goals in seven games this season for Stuttgart. The 24-year-old had been head coach Alexander Zorniger's first-choice striker this year; in his absence, German Under-21 international Timo Werner may see more of the field.
