Mario Gotze suffers groin injury during Germany's loss
Bayern Munich face the possibility of being without Mario Gotze for its upcoming Bundesliga match after the midfielder suffered a groin injury during Germany's loss to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday.
Gotze, who was removed from the match in the 35th minute, will miss Germany's final Euro 2016 qualifying fixture against Georgia and will race against time to regain fitness before Bayern's next match against Werder Bremen on Oct. 17.
The country's World Cup hero appeared to have sustained the ailment during a battle for the ball with Ireland midfielder James McCarthy.
"Mario Gotze will definitely not be there on Sunday," Germany manager Joachim Low told reporters after the match.
Germany's squad depth, however, should benefit the team in its efforts to qualify for the 2016 European Championships. A point against Georgia will secure Germany a spot in next summer's competition.
