Beckenbauer expects Guardiola to decide future with Bayern Munich soon

Bayern Munich's honorary president and former player Franz Beckenbauer has called on manager Pep Guardiola to make a swift decision on his future with the club.

Guardiola's contract with the Bundesliga champion expires next summer, and he has only said he'll honour the remainder of his three-year deal.

Beckenbauer, however, would like a more immediate answer.

"I think he already knows this," Beckenbauer told Sport1, courtesy of ESPN FC. "He's not going to leave Bayern waiting and then decide at some point in April or May.

"Bayern would then need to look around, depending on what his answer is."

Guardiola has done little to stop rumours of a move away from Germany, but the 44-year-old did storm out of a press conference last month after he was pressed for a comment about an England job.

"Oh come on, I’m coach of Bayern Munich. Many thanks, and auf wiedersehen," he said.

Bayern is determined to sign the former Barcelona boss to a new contract, according to the The Telegraph, with CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hoping to sit down with him before the end of 2015.

Guardiola hasn't managed to win the Champions League with Bayern, but he has led the club to consecutive Bundesliga titles, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the DFB Pokal since joining the Bavarians in 2013.
