VIDEO: Mario Gotze bakes a cake for his 10 millionth Facebook fan
Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze is a favorite among German football fans - what with his goal that won them the FIFA World Cup in Brazil last year - and his online popularity reached a new milestone, too.
As Gotze approached the 10-million fan mark on his Facebook page, he promised to mail a special gift to the lucky supporter who reached that magic number. On Wednesday, that lucky fan, identified as Bettina H., won Gotze's impromptu contest and will receive a special delivery in the mail soon.
Gotze baked a banana-chocolate cake and packed it in a box alongside a Germany shirt. It was Gotze's first attempt at baking, he explained.
Here's hoping Bettina lives close enough for the cake to actually be a cake when it arrives, and not a mass of crushed goop. But, hey, free shirt, too, so who's complaining?
