The well-travelled Emiliano Insua is on the move once again.

VfB Stuttgart completed an excellent bit of business Saturday, as the 26-year-old left-back joined the Bundesliga club from Atletico Madrid and put pen to paper on a contract until 2018.

A product of Boca Juniors, Insua joined Atleti in January 2013 and spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, with whom he made 24 La Liga appearances and averaged 2.3 tackles, 2.3 interceptions, and 1.7 clearances per game.

"The transfer of Emiliano Insua is a further step in our squad planning," said Robin Dutt, Stuttgart's director of sport. "We are delighted that he will be wearing the shirt with the infamous red hoop in the future and we wish him all the very best for a good start at VfB."

Insua took to Twitter to thank Atleti and Rayo for their support, writing: "Today I make my move to Stuttgart official. Many thanks to Rayo Vallecano and its supporters for a great year. You made me feel at home. Thank you as well to Atletico Madrid, as it's because of you that I got to know this beautiful country from which I'm leaving with good memories."
