Dortmund announced a two-year extension to the Serbian international's contract that will keep him at the Westfalenstadion until June 2018.
"I'm extremely happy about my decision to stay with BVB. Dortmund has now become my second home," Subotic said on the team's website.
"I'm now looking forward to a successful future with our team and our fantastic fans behind us. We have a great deal to do in the immediate future, and I want to make a big contribution."
Subotic, who signed with Dortmund from Mainz in 2008, managed to score four goals during 28 Bundesliga appearances.
