Manuel Neuer sets Bundesliga record with 20 clean sheets in single season

The octopus that is Manuel Neuer continues to solidify his reputation as the top 'keeper on the planet.

Bayern Munich's 2-0 win versus FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday saw Neuer register his 20th clean sheet of the season, a milestone that marks a new record in the Bundesliga.

Of course, Bayern's style of play has made life so easy for Neuer that he can often be witnessed standing near the centre circle, watching on as his team attacks relentlessly at the other end of the pitch.

Pep Guardiola's side enjoyed an average possession of 70 percent this season and conceded a league-best 7.5 shots per game, numbers that obviously paved the way for 20 clean sheets. Consider that when it comes to total saves - Neuer ranks 18th in the league with 48. That's not many shots over the course of 32 appearances.

None of that, however, should take anything away from Neuer, who is undoubtedly the most talented 'keeper in football at the moment and who makes what would otherwise be considered surreal stops look average on a regular basis.
