Bayern Munich chairman on Xherdan Shaqiri: 'We've given Inter a discount'

Xherdan Shaqiri's move to Inter Milan is being hailed as a bargain by Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The Swiss midfielder joined Inter from Bayern as part of a loan deal in January, but the transfer will become permanent this summer and will reportedly cost the Serie A club €15 million.

However, while that figures seems more than fair given Shaqiri's abilities on the pitch, Rummenigge claimed Bayern could have earned more for the 23-year-old midfielder.

"This is the deal we have," Rummenigge told Gazzetta dello Sport, according to ESPN FC. "We could have earned more by selling him to England, so we've given Inter a discount."

Rummenigge continued: "Shaqiri needed to be playing regularly and I advised him to go to Inter, even though there were lots of English clubs interested. Given the troubles Inter are having, they've hit the jackpot by signing him. He's got quality, he's young and he is capable of making a difference.

"He's going to become even more stable as time goes by because he just needs to feel good and feel he's at home.

Since joining Inter, Shaqiri has notched one goal and two assists in nine Serie A appearances, while also scoring once in both the Europa League and Coppa Italia.
