Bayern Munich's Benatia leaves match vs. Freiburg with injury

Bayern Munich will be without defender Mehdi Benatia for the remainder of Tuesday's contest against Freiburg.

The club's official Twitter account noted that the Moroccan center-back left the match in the opening half after he "tweaked something," though specifics of the injury weren't released.

Bayern visit Mainz later this week before the winter break brings Bundesliga play to a halt, which will give Benatia plenty of time to recover before he's required back on the pitch.

Following that match on Friday, the reigning Bundesliga champions don't resume play until Jan. 30.
