Armin Veh returns to Stuttgart for second spell as manager

BERLIN - VfB Stuttgart announced on Monday that Armin Veh is to return to the club for a second spell as coach on a two-year contract.

Veh, 53, had already confirmed that he would leave Eintracht Frankfurt after three years at the end of this season when his contract expired.

He previously coached Stuttgart between 2006 and 2008 and led the Swabians to the Bundesliga title in 2007.

"I had said that after Frankfurt, where I have had some great moments, the only club that could attract me was Stuttgart," said Veh.

"I've always had close ties to them. They are a club with a lot of potential."

Veh has also coached Augsburg, Greuther Fuerth, Hansa Rostock, Wolfsburg and Hamburg.

On Saturday, Dutchman Huub Stevens stepped down as coach after Stuttgart lost 1-0 at Bayern Munich on the final day of the Bundesliga season.

They finished 15th in the table, five points clear of the bottom three.
