AS Monaco is off to its fourth Champions League semi-final in club history after executing another decisive performance against Borussia Dortmund to beat the German side 3-1 on Wednesday and push its win to 6-3 on aggregate.

Kylian Mbappe set the tone early when Benjamin Mendy's thunderous effort on goal resulted in a rebound that fell into the 18-year-old's path for a comfortable finish past Roman Burki just three minutes into the contest.

The hosts doubled the lead shortly after thanks to Radamel Falcao's lunging header inside the penalty area to push the score to 2-0 inside the opening 20 minutes.

With his side in desperate need of a goal, manager Thomas Tuchel opted to replace Erik Durm with the pacy Ousmane Dembele.

It didn't take Dortmund long to find an answer as the visitors pulled one back three minutes after halftime when Marco Reus finished from close range following a tremendous run from Dembele, whose speed up the flank proved influential in setting up the goal.

The task of overturning the early deficit, as well as the 3-2 loss at home in the first leg, ultimately proved too much as Monaco secured its place in the semi-finals when Valere Germain found the back of the net to send the home support into a frenzy.

It will be Monaco's first appearance in the semi-finals since the 2003-04 competition when the Ligue 1 outfit progressed to the final, where it lost to Jose Mourinho's FC Porto side.

Monaco will discover whether it will play Juventus, Atletico Madrid, or Real Madrid during Friday's draw.
