Aubameyang draws level with Ingolstadt for goals after Dortmund win

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 23rd Bundesliga strike of the season put him on level with the total goals scored by Borussia Dortmund's opponent Ingolstadt on Friday.

Although Thomas Tuchel's ranks once again failed to put in an entirely convincing display, the Gabon striker's swept finish after 14 minutes was enough to see off the division's second-worst side.

On paper, it's not difficult to see why Ingolstadt, currently seven points adrift of safety, will likely end a two-year stay in Germany's top flight. In addition to recording just 23 strikes in 25 matches, the Bavarian outfit has surrendered a fourth-worst 42 goals.

But the weekend's curtain-raiser was a different story, as Ingolstadt banged 14 shots on net at the Westfalenstadion - four more than its host. The visitor was also denied a clear penalty by referee Daniel Siebert after 52 minutes.

Aubameyang may have claimed the goal, but Dortmund's undoubted hero was goalkeeper Roman Burki.

Dortmund, still a huge 13 points short of table-topper Bayern Munich before the rest of week 25's bouts, faces FC Schalke 04 after the two-week international break.
