Bayern president ready to attack 'new enemy' RB Leipzig

Upon being re-elected as president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness was quick to make an astute, if not obvious, assessment when he identified RB Leipzig as his side's newest adversary.

It's impossible not to take the Bundesliga newcomers seriously, after stringing together a 12-match unbeaten run to start the season.

After several years of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund dominating the competition in Germany's top flight, both clubs now find themselves looking up to a new foe after Leipzig moved six points clear atop the table thanks to its decisive win over Freiburg on Friday

"Leipzig won 4-1, now we have a new enemy besides Dortmund we can attack," Hoeness told the audience at Bayern's AGM, as translated by ESPNFC.

"If we are honest we had to take our motivation from ourselves in the last years. It's time some new clubs appear we can challenge.

"Leipzig are a hungry, young team; (Ralph) Hasenhuttl is an outstanding coach, we know him from Bayern (the Austrian ended his playing career with Bayern Munich II).

"But the longer as I think about it, all the more fun I have."

Bayern - who will look to put a dent in Leipzig's lead when it hosts Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday - will close out 2016 against the Bundesliga table toppers when the pair clash in the final match before the winter break on Dec. 21.
