Dortmund's Reus returns to training after 5-month injury layoff

Marco Reus is on the verge of returning for Borussia Dortmund, following another lengthy stint on the sidelines nursing various injuries.

The German international trained for the first time in five months on Tuesday, after injuring his adductor during the DFB-Pokal final against Bayern Munich in May.

Reus was previously expected to return in mid-September, until a groin injury pushed his recovery back.

The injuries forced Reus to miss yet another major international tournament, as Germany manager Joachim Low left him off the Euro 2016 squad. An injury previously forced Reus to pull out of Germany's 2014 World Cup roster.

When healthy, the 27-year-old is arguably among the top footballers in the world, thanks to his repertoire of playmaking skills in midfield and killer instinct in front of goal.

Reus managed 23 goals during 43 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund last season.
