Report: Lewandowski to become Bayern's highest-paid player

Bayern Munich appears to be on the verge of signing Robert Lewandowski to a new long-term contract, and making him the team's highest paid player.

The German champions are reportedly discussing a deal with Lewandowski's representatives that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2021, according to Christian Falk of German outlet Sport Bild.

The agreement would also see the Polish forward become the team's highest-paid player, surpassing Thomas Muller's reported annual salary of €15 million.

Finalising the contract will be the culmination of months of talks between the two sides, who are said to have started in February to extend Lewandowski's contract beyond the current deal, which expires in 2019.

The 28-year-old has led the Bundesliga in scoring in two of the three seasons since he joined Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014. He's already scored five goals in three matches this season to lead all scorers once again.
