Bayern's Boateng, Robben to feature during Hertha Berlin tie

A pair of Bayern Munich stars will be available ahead of the team's Bundesliga encounter with Hertha Berlin on Wednesday.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed to reporters that centre-back Jerome Boateng will make his debut in the starting squad after a positive showing during Tuesday's training session.

"Boateng is in good condition. After training very well the past few days, he will start," Ancelotti told reporters.

Boateng featured as a substitute during Bayern's victory over Ingolstadt on Saturday, and will now get an opportunity to play 90 minutes during his first start since the European Championship, where he tore a muscle in his thigh during Germany's semifinal loss to France.

Ancelotti added that Boateng will line up alongside Javi Martinez in the heart of the defence, with Mats Hummels ruled out of the match due to "some problems."

Meanwhile, playmaker Arjen Robben, who has not played since injuring his groin during Bayern's first preseason match two months ago, is also expected to play a role in the fixture.

"Robben is ready," Ancelotti said. "He'll be on the bench, but will come on for the second half or for the final 30 minutes."

Bayern will attempt to build some separation from Hertha following the capital-city team's great start to the season. Both sides sit atop the Bundesliga table with nine points after three matches.
