Bayern breaks record with 13th straight Champions League home win

Reuters

Bayern Munich got its Champions League campaign off to a historic start Tuesday, recording its 13th consecutive home victory in the tournament by virtue of the Bavarian side's 5-0 destruction of Russian club Rostov.

Tallies from Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller put the match to bed prior to the half-time whistle, and Joshua Kimmich hit a brace before Juan Bernat rounded out the scoring in the second stanza.

In a group that also contains last season's tournament finalist, Atletico Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti's men laid down a big warning shot with a dominant display that certainly won't hurt Bayern's reputation as one of the favourites to win the competition.
