Koln extends Hector, Bittencourt

If one of Europe's marquee clubs fancies submitting a bid for highly-coveted German international Jonas Hector, it will have to up the ante after FC Koln tabled an extension for the left-back Saturday.

Hector, 26, and teammate Leonardo Bittencourt, 22, both signed new deals through 2021 with the West German club Saturday as per a statement on Koln's website.

"Jonas has made progressed tremendously as a player of FC," Koln manager Peter Stoger said. "He began as a player in our Under-21 and through his determination he managed to establish himself as our starting player in the Bundesliga and even for the German national team."

With Liverpool reportedly keen to sign the Euro 2016 standout in the summer window to replace an erratic Alberto Moreno, the Reds will have to pony up a significant bid for Hector after extending his Koln stay.

Like Hector, Bittencourt enjoyed a noteworthy campaign for Koln in 2015-16, after making the switch from Hannover last summer.

"Leo proved in his first year with us that he is a player with plenty of potential. The fact that both of them decided to extend their contracts at an early stage makes us very happy," Stoger added.
