The New York Red Bulls announced Thursday the club has acquired forward Omer Damari on loan from RB Leipzig for the remainder of the 2016 MLS season, and the Israel international will occupy a Designated Player spot on the Red Bulls' roster.

Damari joins the club by the wishes of the parent Red Bull organisation, which owns both the New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig, as well as Red Bull Salzburg, where he spent last season on loan.

"We're really looking forward to Omer joining the team," said Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis. "We follow a lot of the Red Bull-associated clubs pretty closely, so we've gotten to see him play on a number of occasions, and we think he can add a lot of quality to what we're doing in the final third."

The 27-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Israeli national team, scoring nine goals. He is the first player within the Red Bull umbrella to play for all three of the organisation's club sides.
