USA TODAY Sports / Gary Rohman

Christian Pulisic has voiced his delight at a meteoric rise at club and international level over the past few months.

The 17-year-old made his professional debut for Borussia Dortmund in January and went on to make 11 further appearances for the first team before the end of the season. His development was then rewarded with a call-up for the United States senior team's Copa America Centenario campaign.

"It was incredible," Pulisic said. "My family and friends were there and watched me play - an unforgettable experience.

"It was a great feeling for me to play in front of so many of my fellow countrymen."

Pulisic recognizes that through his exploits for Dortmund and the U.S. he has garnered a lot of attention and lofty hopes, but vowed not to get carried away amid all the hype. That doesn't prevent him from being proud of his recent achievements, though.

"What happened in the last seven months is completely crazy, but it makes me insanely proud," he continued.

"Overall I'm very happy with my displays. I had to make great strides. But my teammates and coaches have supported me well and made it easy for me. Everyone had my back In Dortmund as well as in the national team.

"I have gained a lot of confidence and feel ready for the next season."

The Pennsylvania native scored a last-minute equaliser in a friendly against Manchester City on Thursday, and will be in contention for Dortmund's next warm-up match against Sunderland in Austria next Friday.
