Schurrle makes Dortmund switch

A day after securing Mario Gotze's return, Borussia Dortmund has locked up a second German international, signing winger Andre Schurrle from Wolfsburg.

The club announced the move Friday, with the 25-year-old making the Westfalenstadion pilgrimage on a five-year deal, according to a statement on the Bundesliga runner-up's website. The move is subject to a medical.

Schurrle, who put pen to paper on a reported €30 million deal, becomes Dortmund's eighth signing of the summer, leaving Wolfsburg 18 months after a move from Chelsea. During that spell with the Lower Saxons, Schurrle made 62 appearances, pairing 13 goals with 10 assists.

"Borussia Dortmund are one of the top European clubs with a strong and extremely exciting squad. From my own experience I know how much power BVB can develop with their fans and I am already looking forward to witness it not as wide-eyed opponent but as a part of it," Schurrle told the club's website Friday.

"I want to achieve great things with Borussia in the years to come and can't wait to start training and convince the people it was a good move to sign me."

The move means that both the provider and the finisher on the 2014 World Cup-winning goal will be in Thomas Tuchel's side for the 2016-17 campaign.

Tuchel is no stranger to the pacey winger after promoting Schurrle to the first team at Mainz ahead of the 2009-10 campaign.

Dortmund is in China squaring off against Manchester United and former player Henrikh Mkhitaryan on Friday in the International Champions Cup.
