Bayern's Robben out 6 weeks with groin issue
Arjen Robben's groin injury sustained in Bayern Munich's friendly at Lippstadt 08 on Saturday has sidelined the Dutchman for a month-and-a-half.
The issue was suffered after Robben pulled up during a sprint, and sees him out of Bayern's preseason tour of the United States, the DFL-Supercup bout with Borussia Dortmund, the beginning of the DFB-Pokal campaign at fourth-tier Carl Zeiss Jena, and the start of its Bundesliga title defence.
A reasonable target for the 32-year-old's return would be a trip to FC Schalke 04 on Sept. 9.
Robben had rounded the goalkeeper to tuck away Bayern Munich's second earlier in the game in Lippstadt, and left proceedings with the scoreline at 3-0 following an effort from Franck Ribery. Der FCB eventually left the warmup match as a 4-3 victor.
The veteran winger has suffered several bouts on the treatment table in recent times, most notably missing the last 15 matches of last season with abductor problems.
