Transfer gossip column: London clubs face bidding wars as Mourinho's shortlist grows

Reuters

This is not the place for legitimate reports and completed deals. Here, we compile the ludicrous transfer rumours that arise during this month of madness in the football world. Each day until the summer transfer window shuts, theScore will provide a rundown of the most outlandish babble from the backpages, briefing you on the transfer gossip throughout Europe.

Here's what the rumour mill is churning out today:

Stars shopping for London homes

Juventus fans may have made peace with the idea that Alvaro Morata won't be around next season, but the future destination of the Spanish striker remains a mystery. The Mirror reports that Morata could make a £30-million move to Arsenal, though Chelsea is "sounding out" his availability, too.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan might also be shopping for a new home in London, as the Evening Standard reports the Armenian is weighing up a move to Arsenal, though Tottenham might also make a bid for his services, according to the Daily Star.

Should Mauricio Pochettino fail to lock up the Armenian, he might very well make a play for Olympique Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette instead, with the Mirror reporting that the French striker could be the subject of a £24-million bid from Spurs. Watford striker Troy Deeney is another option, as per The Sun.

What of poor West Ham? It seems AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca will have to do, according to the Daily Mail.

Mourinho wants Pjanic, Krychowiak

New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has identified yet another pair of players for this summer, with Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic and Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak the latest big-name targets to tickle the Portuguese tactician's fancy.

Mundo Deportivo reports that United is interested in Pjanic, who has a price tag of €38 million attached to his name. The Express says Krychowiak would come at an even heftier €44 million, but Mourinho's old nemesis, Barcelona, is also interested in the Polish international's services.

Mourinho has also been linked with Willian, Marquinhos, and John Stones.

Swapping Bavaria for Madrid

Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski has grown bored of German football and is ready to force a move to Real Madrid, according to Spanish outlet AS.

He'll supposedly command a €20-million annual salary, but Bayern executive director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says there's no chance of the Polish striker leaving the club.

Not even for €100 million.
