A reunion involving Mario Gotze and Jurgen Klopp is reportedly still in the cards.

According to Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph, Liverpool remains confident of signing Gotze, who Bayern Munich is valuing at £20 million and who is on the fringes of the German club's squad having made only 13 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.

In April, Gotze said "everything's open" in regards to his future, confirming that he had yet to hold talks with Bayern or Carlo Ancelotti, the club's replacement for the departing Pep Guardiola. It was reported in Germany on Wednesday, however, that the Italian manager has informed the 23-year-old that he is free to leave the Allianz Arena.

Of course, Gotze worked under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund before joining Bayern in 2013. The German tactician was asked about the potential signing of the youngster at the end of March but refused to be drawn into discussing the matter.
