Pep Guardiola: 'I'm not dead yet'

Berlin - Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has responded to criticism of his team selection in Wednesday's Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid by insisting he is "not dead yet".

"I am not dead yet. We still have a match. I still have one more bullet," Guardiola told media on Friday after Bayern lost 1-0 to Atletico in their Champions League semi-final first leg in Spain.

The Bavarians host Atletico in the return next Tuesday but before that the team can secure its fourth consecutive Bundesliga title with a win at home to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Guardiola, who will move to Manchester City at the end of the season, has been criticised for leaving Thomas Muller on the bench at kick-off at the Vicente Calderon, but he said he is focused only on finishing his time at Bayern on a high.

"You cannot imagine how happy I am. I am full of energy and am looking forward to the coming days. I am super-motivated," said the 45-year-old, who has seen his side eliminated in the Champions League semi-finals in each of the last two seasons.

Of the second leg against Atletico, he added: "We have already proven in other situations that we are capable."
