Manchester City 'a very interesting option' for Hummels, says father

Hermann Hummels, agent and father of Borussia Dortmund skipper Mats Hummels, has highlighted Manchester City as "a very interesting option" as it looks increasingly likely his son will seek pastures new this summer.

Hermann already conceded that a return to Bayern Munich could be a possibility for the defender, but now seems keen on Mats working under incoming City manager Pep Guardiola.

"Manchester City could also be a very interesting option," Hermann told the SID news agency. "They've not done so well this year, but they are going to win the league next year. They are getting the best coach in the world."

Guardiola sidestepped talk on Mats at a Bayern media conference Friday, with the club's media officer Markus Horwick noting the player "has a contract until 2017 with Dortmund and that must be respected, so there is nothing more to say on the matter."

Liverpool, managed by Mats' former boss Jurgen Klopp, Barcelona, and Manchester United are all apparently in the hunt for the 27-year-old centre-back.

Dortmund travels to VfB Stuttgart in Saturday's Bundesliga action.
