Dortmund signs Owomoyela, Langerak to new deals

Dortmund, Germany (Sports Network) - Bundesliga champion Borussia Dortmund signed midfielder Patrick Owomoyela and goalkeeper Mitch Langerak to new deals Thursday.

The 32-year-old Owomoyela joined Dortmund in 2008 and has played 76 Bundesliga matches and scored three goals and added 11 assists. His new deal runs through the 2012-13 season.

"I'm very happy that the club are putting their trust in me in spite of some unfortunate injuries at unfortunate times and that I'm heading into my fifth season at Dortmund," said Owomoyela, who battled a calf injury last season.

The 23-year-old Langerak signed a four-year deal, as the Australian secured a place with Dortmund through the 2015-16 season. He appeared in two Bundesliga matches last season, and replaced injured Roman Weidenfeller in the Pokal Cup final.

"Mitch has steadily improved his goalkeeping in the last two years," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said. "We are convinced that he has all the attributes a good goalkeeper needs."

Dortmund won the Bundesliga title for the second straight season and also won the Pokal Cup last season.
