Schieber turns down Stuttgart extension
Stuttgart, Germany (Sports Network) - Stuttgart striker Julian Schieber has turned down a contract extension from the club, and said that next season will be his last at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The 23-year-old has one year remaining on his contract, but he refused an offer to extend his stay with the club until 2016, according to the club's director of sport, Fredi Bobic.
"It is a big shame," said Bobic on Stuttgart's website. "We regret Julian's decision since he was a major component of our plans. We have now got to get over it and look at other options immediately."
Schieber scored seven times in 29 games while on loan at Nurnberg two years ago, and he returned to Stuttgart to score three goals in 18 appearances for the club this past season.
