Our Personalities

Official Title: Reporter

Birthplace: London, ON

Started at The Score: September 1999

Jobs in sports/TV that you had before this one:
I worked in radio in Owen Sound, Ontario for a number of years hosting a sports talk show and covering news. Nothing better than covering city council or board of education meetings! Boy, I miss those days! (Can you hear the sarcasm in my voice?)

Who are your favourite sportscasters?
Tough to pick one. Growing up I was a big fan of Dick "Oh My" Enberg and Bob Costas.

Is this your dream career?
Yes. I wanted to do something in sports broadcasting since I was... oh... about 3 days old.

If you weren't in sports media, what other occupation do you think you'd have?
Teacher or something in Public Relations involving a sports team or league.

High point of your career so far?
I've been lucky because I've done some things I didn't think I ever would get to do. Going to the Memorial Cup in 2002 and especially in 2005 was fun. Covering the Grey Cup in Vancouver in 2005 was great. I must say almost getting crushed to death at the 2005 Vanier Cup in Hamilton when the Laurier students - all 20 thousand - rushed the field to celebrate the title is something I will never forget. Going back to my radio days I really enjoyed covering the 1991 Ontario men's curling championship. I am NOT much of a curler, but the week long event was a blast!

Most memorable interview/broadcasting moment?
Doing a live interview with Ed Werenich (the legendary curler) who swore - more than once. Good times, good times! There was also the time I interviewed a guest who had more than a few drinks. Better times! I guess I could have put those memories in the embarrassing moment category. I also had a chance to interview Cam Neely, who was one of my favourite players growing up. What a class act!

What has been your most embarrassing moment on air?
Doing a radio interview with an extremely nervous guest who would answer her questions with a nod of her head ... yes/no. Better yet she would point at the other guest as if to say "you answer the question." You know what ... that doesn't work on radio!!

If you could be a pro athlete, which sport and why?
Hockey. Why? Because hockey is Canada!

Who is your favourite pro athlete?
Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He plays the game hard and is always smiling. He's a guy who gets it - it's just a game, be glad you are playing it.

Hobbies? Special interests?
Road hockey (can't skate all that well) but man can I kick butt in road hockey! I collect sports memorabilia as well. I also enjoy watching junior hockey. I try to get to a game a week.

Quote/motto/words to live by:
Go hard or go home!

Pet peeve about this industry:
The huge egos of some in the business. Guys...this isn't brain surgery, we are just talking sports!

Did you know?
I am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan! Every once in a while (I am not sure why I torture myself like this) I break out the tape of Super Bowl XXX. That's the one in which the Steelers QB (I won't bring myself to say his name) tossed 2 interceptions to that Dallas guy (I REFUSE to say his name). I watch the tape hoping the outcome will somehow change. It never does. Thank God we won Super Bowl XL!!
