Ex-MLBer Monte Harrison commits to play football at Arkansas
Former MLB player Monte Harrison committed to play college football for Arkansas, according to Richard Davenport of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Harrison, who turns 29 in August, was a four-star wide receiver in the class of 2014, per ESPN. He ranked as the No. 5 prospect in Missouri that year and signed with Nebraska, but he never used any of his college eligibility.
Harrison also had offers from Missouri, Michigan State, and Iowa, among others, when he was originally recruited.
The 6-foot-1, 218-pounder had an impressive senior season in high school, hauling in 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and 13 touchdowns, per On3's Nick Kosko. He also had 198 yards and another 12 scores on the ground.
The Razorbacks ranked 105th in passing in the country last season, averaging 187.5 yards per game.
Harrison was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He spent the 2020 and 2021 campaigns playing for the Miami Marlins before appearing in nine games for the Los Angeles Angels in 2022. He owns a .176 batting average and two home runs.
